Membership in Mensa is open to persons who have attained a score at or above the 98th percentile on an approved IQ test that has been properly administered and supervised. That means that one out of every fifty people qualifies for Mensa. Are you that one?
There are two ways to qualify for membership: either take the Mensa test, or submit a qualifying score from another test.
Mensa admission tests are administered through our local test proctors. The standard Mensa admission test takes about two hours to complete and includes two tests featuring questions involving logic and deductive reasoning. If you score at or above the 98th percentile on either of the two tests, you'll qualify and be invited to join Mensa. The fee for this test is $40. Note that these tests are intended for those who speak English as their primary language. If English isn't your primary language, American Mensa offers a battery of culture fair, non-language tests.
Please note that American Mensa cannot test individuals younger than 14 years of age on the test date; however, these prospective members may submit evidence of prior testing to qualify.
We have also a Mensa Home Test, designed to give you an understanding of what to expect from American Mensa's supervised test in the privacy of your own home. However, it cannot be used as qualifying evidence of prior testing, and will only be scored for those age 14 and older. You can order it from the American Mensa website.
You are welcome to contact our local testing coordinator if you have further questions. You can find her e-mail address listed on our Officers page.
These are the dates for upcoming Mensa testing dates in our area. Please RSVP if you know you are attending.
Note that only the standard Mensa Test will be proctored on these dates; if you need to take one of the culture fair tests, contact our Testing Coordinator at testing@broward.us.mensa.org to arrange a testing date.
Have you taken one too many tests throughout your life? Anxious about taking the Mensa test? Don't worry! It is very likely that you have already taken a test that may qualify you for membership.
The American Mensa website has all the information you might want to know about how to submit qualifying scores from tests other than the Mensa qualifying test. You can also check out our frequently asked questions page for answers to the most frequently asked questions about Mensa membership.
